Title: Novel Ideas for Sub-GeV Dark Matter Detection

-

Speaker: Prof. Anirban Das, SINP

Abstract: Direct detection of sub-GeV dark matter demands detectors with low energy thresholds because of its lower energy scales. In this talk, I'll introduce two novel ideas. First, using superconducting quantum devices to sense the power deposition from dark matter scattering. I'll show that the existing data already put competitive limits on the dark matter-nucleon interaction. Next, I'll describe how bilayer graphene with voltage-tunable band gap can be used to probe even lighter sub-MeV dark matter-electron scattering with promising future prospects.

Venue: Seminar Room (202), Physics Department IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai
