Title: Hydrodynamics and Fluctuations in non-equilibrium statistical physics

-

Speaker: Dr. Rahul Dandekar, IPhT, Paris-Saclay

Abstract: Fluctuating hydrodynamic theories have emerged in recent years as a candidate for a generalised formalism for non-equilibrium statistical physics in a wide range of systems. In this talk, I will review this development and show that hydrodynamics can be usefully applied to the study of systems with driven tracers and systems with long-ranged interactions. I will show how the resulting equations are solved to determine various non-equilibrium properties, like the evolution of the position of a tagged particle.

Venue: Seminar Room (202), Physics Department IIT Bombay, Powai, Mumbai
